This week has been busy to say the least. Jordan wasn't feeling good Monday, and since we leave for vacation on July 4th I asked mom to take him to the doctor. She took him, and then I met them when I got off work. He has strep throat. Thankfully we caught it REALLY early. The doctor was very surprised he had it since his throat didn't look that red. She said since he had not ran any fever, and it was so early he would be fine after 24 hours on antibiotics. He also has an upper respiratory infection. You would never know he is sick by looking at him he is full force. He has been on meds since Monday and seems to be fine. I let him go swimming today with my Aunt and his little cousin. I am sure he is having a blast. I did make him skip bible school this week since I don't want him getting worn out and it getting worse before it gets better.
We have a FULL weekend ahead with cleaning, finish packing, birthday parties, and seeing friends and family before we leave.
I have started packing for Alabama/Florida. I have both of the kids packed all except some last minute things for Preston. Eli is completely packed. I am working on me. I am pretty proud of myself and I hope I can dedicate my weekend nights to cleaning after the kids go to bed. My goal is to leave a clean house. I wasn't to worried about that until I got some news this past Friday. I found out I am leaving on Monday the 11th to head to South Boston, Virgina for work. I will be gone to training session there and I am super excited. I am super nervous about leaving my babies. I will only be home from vacation for about 24 hours before I have to hop a plane and head out again. So along with my cleaning goal I need to have everyone packed for both vacation and my trip. The kids will be spending 3 nights with Eli's parents and one night and 2 days with My mom and sister.
Cross your fingers I can pull it all off and not forget anything to important!
work, vacation, work trip....

This weekend was full of fun and family. Eli was off Friday and Saturday so we had fun playing with the boys and getting ready for vacation.
Preston had his first chocolate chip cookie and man was he loving it.
Saturday we went to the Tomato Festival and walked around for a few minutes, and then we were off to Jackson. Me, Patricia, Eli, and the kids went to eat at cracker barrell. Can you believe Patricia had never been there? She was pretty impressed when they brought her tons of food and it was all good. We all were really full afterwards, and Preston was loving all the attention people were giving him.
Jordan was just ready to go to the movies. He was so excited when he found out we were going to see Cars 2.
I thought it was pretty neat that Preston's first movie was Cars 2 because Jordan's first movie was Cars. Preston did super good. He talked and played at first, but then when the lights went out he wanted his cup. He drank his milk and fell asleep. He slept thru the whole movie. That baby is just like his daddy. He can sleep anywhere.
I didn't think Cars 2 was nearly as good as the first one, but my 6 year old disagreed. He loved it and said he liked the action. So I guess it passed the test.
He is really excited about the new transformer movie.
Once Preston woke up when the movie was over he noticed everyone wearing these silly glasses. He thought they were the coolest things ever. He played with them most of the way home and kept putting them on and taking them off and laughing. He is so silly.
Sunday morning Preston decided to get up early so we played and ate breakfast while waiting on bubba to get up.He is so sweet in the mornings. After Jordan got up and had breakfast we headed to Victoria's to get some swimming in. The boys were both exhausted after that so they both took a nap when we got home.
I pick up Jordan today!

I can not wait until 3:00! I am getting off work at 10am today to take Preston back to his final pre op appointment (we hope). I can't wait to hear the doctor say "you can take him swimming and to the beach now." Then we will be on our way to get Jordan. I can not be more excited. I am mainly excited to hear all about his time at camp. I wish I could take off tomorrow and spend the day with him, but he will be going with my grandmother to vbs for the day. I can not take off since we leave for vacation in 9 days!
Camp wesley pines uploaded photos online and then gave parents a password so we can log in and see them daily. I downloaded 2 pictures off the website of Jordan. I didn't bother downloading anymore since we bought a dvd at registration that will have all of the pics from the week on it.

Jordan is in the blue shirt and that is his cousin Ethan in the orange shirt. I am a little worried about what Jordan has been wearing all week since that shirt was packed to be a Pajama shirt haha. I am just happy he looks decent and is in clothes and has shoes on.
I Can't wait to hear about this. Jordan loves cooking outside. His favorite thing is to have a fire with his daddy and hav smores and hot dogs.
On the website there were pictures of them swimming, roasting marshmellows, playing games, singing and some other stuff that looked fun. I am sure he will have plenty to tell me this afternoon!

We took Jordan to camp and much to his suprise he is in the same room with his cousin Ethan. He was very excited about that. Ethan went to camp last year so he knows the ropes a little and I am hoping he can help Jordan out. They play really good together and Jordan always enjoys when Ethan is around. He always ask me "momma can we go to Ethans house one day." He doesn't understand that you can't just show up at someones house you have to be invited. We are working on that.
This is Jordan on his bed at camp. He loved his new mario comforter that matches his sheets. There are 4 boys to a room and the room has one shower and one toilet in it. There are two sinks. I hope there are no problems with anythinga and those boys actually get some sleep. The counselor was really nice his name was Christian and he seemed to really click with the kids. His room was right across the hall. I will be honest I am a little worried about the fact that there is no "adult" in the room, but Jordan is growing up. I have to face that or find an adult to hire to go live in his dorm room in college one day.....now that is an idea!
Jordan was so excited yesterday. I only cried a little while leaving. The big cry came last night when I had to go to bed without talking to him. I just pray he has a great time and is enjoying himself. They were going swimming yesterday so he was excited about that. I can't wait to pick him up Thursday and hear all about it.
Preston on the other hand cried as much as I did. He stood at the door for about 10 minutes yesterday saying bubba. He isn't sure why his bubba isn't in his room playing. Preston played in his room for about 5 minutes but he quickly realized its not half as fun without bubba! I am hoping he will be okay and he will be super excited to see jordan on Thursday.

I don't know If I am excited, sad, or just dreading this entire week. I have never had to go this long without talking to Jordan. I am so scared he is going to want to come home and he isn't going to be able to. Or that he will need something and I won't be there to give it to him. I have cried probably 10 times over the last week. I am so nervous over the small things. I am afraid he is going to loose his tooth brush or shampoo (the kid would forget his head if it wasn't attached). I am afraid he is going to get picked on (this is the biggie). I don't know why I worry about him getting picked on. He has never been picked on before, but this has been my biggest fear since I signed him up for camp.
He is so excited although I don't think he has realized camp doesn't have a tv. He has talked about swimming and making crafts for weeks now. I always had a blast at camp and I made some lifelong friends. I hope he has a great experience and this is something he wants to do again and again. I am so scared for him and me.
Me and Eli are going to take him this afternoon at 2 and help him get his bed made up and settled in. I hope he clicks with a kid there or knows a kid in his cabin. I hope I can hold in my tears until I get to the car away from him.
Times like this really make me realize how precious my time is with my boys. They grow up so fast and there is no going back.

I was really afraid Jordan wasn't going to get much out of swimming lessons. I am very proud to admit I was wrong. Jordan learned so much. If you would have told me a week ago Jordan would be swimming int he deep end with no help and going down the slide. I would have told you "you have lost it." He did it today! He went down the slide and swam to the side by himself. He was swimming in the deep end. I am so proud of him.
Notice all the girls in the water. I think they knew his crazy mom was a nervous wreck! I can't believe how much Jordan has grown in the last year. He is leaving for camp on Monday and will be gone until Thursday night. I got him all packed tonight and he is more than ready to go. I have already cried twice. I don't even want to know how I bad I cry after I drop him off Monday. I refuse to cry in front of him because I want him to stay excited. I am so happy he gets this opportunity and I hope he makes many good memories next week.

We had a wonderful day. Preston had to go back to the doctor. He got a clean report. He can go back to daycare tomorrow and should beCleared for everything in two weeks when we go back. That means vacation in Florida the week of July 4th! Today we went and got eli his fathers day present and to eat at outback it was a wonderful family afternoon. We got Eli an iphone 4 and an under armor shirt. I also have a few other things planned for sunday. He loves his phone. |
While we were on the way to the doctor Jordan decided to have a photo shoot in the back seat haha. I love this kid.
I gave Preston a lemon while out for supper tonight. I was so excited since I just knew I was going to get a wonderful sour face picture....I was sadly disappointed. Preston is just like his bubba and could eat lemons all day.
On the way home Preston was sleepy from all of lemon eating and shopping he crashed.

Preston had been acting funny all day. We had an appointment with his regular pediatrician this morning to have his 9 month check up and shots. Jordan also had an appt to have his eyes checked after our incident with the gas.
The good is Preston weighs 16 lbs and is 25 inches long. Jordans eyes are fine and no sight problems at all. His urine test came out fine so the gas incident is a thing of the past.
The bad is the second dr. Welch saw prestons surgery spot he said that doesn't look right. He called dr. Harmon and told him Preston needed to be seen today. We didn't get 9 month shots and we headed straight to the ER. The resident doctor came down to meet us. he said it was for sure swollen and very bloody. He called dr harmon and he
Came to see Preston. He was Concerned About the bruising and swelling. Preston has not ate and was starting to get dehydrated.
He told us he wanted to go on and admit us get some fluids, antibiotics, and pain meds
Started. They tried to do a catheter but it was to swollen so they put a bandage on it that he said would help him go to the bathroom by putting pressure on it. They had to take the stitches
Out since one popped and he was bleeding thru them. They got his iv started with Meds and he is finally asleep. Nothing by mouth after midnight just in case they have to go in and do surgery again tomorrow.
I sure hope my baby gets to feeling
Better soon!!

one} how many times have you been a bridesmaid/maid of honor?
I didn't end up there but sorta close. I wanted to be a nurse. I did get my CNA licensce but thats as far as I went. I am very thankful for that now though. Nursing was not my calling and neither were all those crazy hours.

Preston had a rough night. He did get a little sleep thanx to pain medicine. He has developed a fever they don't think it is any sign of infection just a common thing that happens after surgery. His bandage came off which he did not like at all. With no bandage that means more cleaning and he is very sore, swollen, and bruised. Doctor says it looks normal....to me it looks HORRIBLE. I am having a hard time changing diapers and ignoring all of it. I really hope my stomach strengthen soons. He is also very gassy and jumpy. Every two to three minutes he jumps a couple of times like he has startled him. They said all of this is very common. The doc said he should start getting his appetite back tomorrow and with that his strength will come back. We will get discharged from the hospital today around lunch and come back tomorrow afternoon for them to check him out.
Both jordan and Preston have an appointment with our regular pediatrician tomorrow also.

The one good thing about being here at the hosptial is Eli and Preston sleep the entire time. Which also leaves me more time to get caught up on my blogging. I am really glad I brought my computer.
Jordan was not happy when he found out I signed him up for swimming lessons for weeks he said he was not going to go and have fun. He always said "Momma I know how to swim." He is half way right. He can swim enough to get by...he can not swim enough for this momma to feel comfortable plus I thought swimming lessons would be fun for him no matter what he thinks haha.
He had his first day at swimming lessons on Monday. Eli took him and since it is right next to my work I walked down and spent my lunch break there. Jordan had a blast. When we left he said "Momma thank you for signing me up for swimming lessons and I am sorry I said I didn't want to come. I didn't know it was going to be fun." I am really not sure what he thought swimming lessons would be like, but I am glad his little mind was wrong. He even asked if he could go back. He was very happy to know swimming lessons last for TWO weeks. I missed his lesson today and probably will tomorrow. I hope to get a few more pictures on Thursday but for now these will have to do. I really hate that it is so hard for me to get pictures of Jordan now days he is just to fast and not for the camera.

Today started out about 4:00 am. We made it to the hospital about 5:30 and surgery started about 6:00. About 7:45 they called Me and Eli to let us know that he was going to recovery and we could come down. We went down and stayed there about an hour.
We learned when he was in recovery that he is allergic to morphine. We knew this was a possiblity since both Eli and I have people in our families allergic to it. We figured no better place to find out if Preston is allergic than here at the hospital. Sure enough they gave him some he started breaking out and his legs looked blotchy. They flushed his IV out and gave him something to counteract the reaction and within 20 minutes his skin was back to normal. They wrote off the morphine from his chart and instead are giving him Loratab. I am NOT a fan of pain medicine, but I don't want my baby to be in pain. He has had to have one dose since coming out of surgery.
He acted like he felt great up until about 1:00. Then I guess the meds they gave him in recovery had worn out. He got very fussy and we learned just how sore he really is. That is when they gave him Lora tab. He has drank 10 oz of formula today and 12 oz of pedialyte. We tried to feed him some baby food diced carrots which are normally his favortie but he couldn't sit up long enough to eat them. Everytime we sat him up and turned around to the grab food he would fall over back asleep. The nurse said as long as he is drinking he is fine. We are going to let him rest as much as possible and hopefully tomorrow he will be feeling better and we can go home.
For months we thought this would be an outpatient procedure, but after the doctor reviewed the charts on Monday they called to let us know Preston would be staying. I am really glad they made that call. He has been a fussy little man today and I was not comfortable with cleaning him without them showing me and helping a couple of times.
After talking to Dr. Harmon (who is wonderful) I got much more information on Preston's "condition" as they call it and the surgery. Preston was born with what is called Hypospadias. It is VERY common and there are 3 levels. Preston is between the 2nd and 3rd level. They do think one surgery was all it would take to fix it. It does take about 6 months to fully heal so we won't know for certain until then. I was under the impression that this was caused by him being premature which could have something to do with it. Today we learned that it is also caused by women who take Progesterone during pregnancy. It is also more common in women who use IVF to become pregnant because of the amount of Progesterone they are exposed to. It makes sense why Preston would have developed this since I took Progesterone shots from 14 weeks until 33 weeks of my pregnancy. I took them because they are suppose to prevent preterm labor. Although Preston was still premature he was not as premature as Jordan. I fully think it was because those shots are miracle workers for people like me that can't keep babies in the whole time.
Preston will likely be sore for a few days, but can return to regular activity once the swelling has gone down. He can not use a walker or stradle type toy for a few weeks or swim. We asked and he will be fine for Florida in July so our vacation is still on. They are going to give us more information in the morning about the do's and dont's and when we have to come back. The doctor should also be around later so we are hanging out waiting on that. Preston will get more pain meds in about an hour and get settled into bed.
Also notice the paci. I am very sad he went an entire week without it but this morning he was sooo hungry and he has been so fussy today they said the recommend we give it to him to keep him calm. Hopefully we can hide it again once we get home.
I will update again tomorrow once we get to go home.

After our crazy Friday night. The weekend didn't consist of much. Jordan was doing good, but still had an upset tummy. His eyes look much better. The picture above was taken sunday. You can tell he still has a purpleish ring around his eyesm, but they are nothing like they were before.
I think Preston wanted to play lazy baby all weekend. Normally by the time you lay him down and turn around to walk away he has crawled halfway across the living room.
We did have to take his mobile out of his bed Sunday morning. I found him like this 2 mornings in a row. He did fine without it last night. We left the music box part in, and we played his music for him to go to sleep. He was pretty proud of himself for making such a mess.
Then he went right back to being lazy again.
and silly of course.
Most people know Preston was born premature and certain parts didn't develop fully. It is nothing serious but, he will be going in tomorrow morning at 5:30 to have some reconstructive type surgery. Please say a prayer for him tomorrow. We will be at Blair E Batson until Wednesday. He will be able to go back to daycare on Monday. I take both him and Jordan back to the doctor on Thursday to make sure both of them are doing okay. They are going test Jordan's eyes and get a urine sample to make sure everything is okay with him. Preston will be getting his 9 month shots then also. It is probably going to be a rough week/weekend around the Morse house.
Jordan also had swimming lessons today and he loved them. He was very unhappy when he found out I signed him up for them and did not want to go. I told him it would be alot of fun, but you know boys...they are hard headed. He told me when it was time to go "thank you for making me come momma that was so much fun. Can I come back?" He was happy to know swimming lessons last for 2 weeks.

Thankfully Jordan is doing GREAT now, but we got a huge scare Friday night.
Me, Jordan, and Preston were so excited to be going to Florence to hang out with Jessica and her kiddos. We had the whole night planned out PERFECT (that should have been my cue that something was going to go wrong) and we were all in the car headed to Florence.
I stopped at Mac's gas in Terry to get gas and ice. Ever since Jordan was a little kid he has always gotten out with me to pump gas. It started when he was younger and terrified of the dark he didn't like to stay in the car in the dark. Then he started being amazed with pushing the buttons and talking about all the different kinds of cars. There was nothing different about our gas pumping Friday night. Jordan got out I put my debit card in, put my pin number in, and put the gas nozzle in. I told Jordan push the number 87 so he did. I put it on the thing that pumps it so you don't have to hold it (lesson learned DON'T do that it is NOT safe) and we were talking about the yellow mustang with black stripes. If you have a little boy you know that it clearly resembles one of the transformers.
The next thing I remember is Jordan screaming to the top of his lungs, and gas going all over him.Thankfully the lady that worked there was stocking ice in the thing outside, and there was a cop standing outside talking to another man. They all ran over and raced Jordan inside. There was another cop inside and we all washed his eyes out the best we could, ripped his clothes off, and washed him down. He was still screaming and couldn't see anything he said. I called his doctor (thank goodness for after hours) the nurse told us get to the UMC children's ER as soon as possible. She asked If I wanted her to call an ambulance. I knew I could be there faster than any ambulance so I said no I am headed there now. I don't know who those cops were, but they were amazing. They gave Jordan tons of wet paper towels and took him to the car. They also called my tag number over the radio so that there would be no problem with me getting pulled over.
Eli was on his way to work. I called him and told him to turn around go get Jordan some clothes and meet me at the ER Jordan had gotten gas in his eyes. When we got to the hospital there was a nurse waiting for us. She rushed Jordan in and they went straight to work. There was the NICEST resident doctor that came in and introduced herself as she was doing Jordan's vitals. She then took Preston so I could be with Jordan as they got him all hooked up to be taken care of. They tested the pH level in his eyes and of course it was higher than it should have been. They did a couple of other washes and then started him on saline going into his eyes. We were there for about an hour and Jordan started being able to see again and open and close his eyes with no problems. We stayed for four hours and they washed Jordan's eyes out every way possible I think. Tested his pH level multiple times, and gave him eye drops to numb his eyes. Gave him a good sponge bath to get the smell off of him as much as possible.
They told us Jordan's eyes would be swollen for a couple of days but he was fine. They told us to keep sunglasses on his eyes out in the sun for Saturday, but Sunday he should be fine. Today he is doing sooooo much better. His stomach is a little messed up, and his eyes still look a little purple/red but they are not burning at all. I am so thankful everything is fine. He will not be getting out of the car anymore while I pump gas. I felt so guilty and horrible I apologized to Jordan and told him If I had known anything would happen to him I would have NEVER let him out of the car.
The doctors, nurses, and everyone were fantastic. I couldn't not have asked for better care. This is now the 2nd time we have been to the hospital. Jordan went there when he broke his arm and had surgery last year. I have had nothing but WONDERFUL care. Preston is having surgery there Tuesday. I am very nervous, but I know he is in the best hands. They took wonderful care of all of us last night and were so concerned about making Jordan comfortable. I am pretty sure he got way to many Popsicles.

Mrs. Kathy was keeping her grandaughters this week and of course Preston loved both of them. Yesterday the little girls momma came to get them and made a comment about Preston being so cute and wanting to take him home. The youngest girl asked her momma if she they could please take Preston home. Her momma told her no that Preston's mommy might not like that very much. The little girl said maybe he is for sale. Mrs Kathy told me that this morning I laughed so hard! I love the funny things kid say.
Preston is going through another milestone. The paci has been gone for 2 days. I don't know how its going to to go, but I am prepared to stick to it. I think it will be fine he had gotten to where he only took it when he found one or saw one laying around. I am just praying the bottle isn't a problem. He is for sure a bottle baby.

This is Preston with his paci for the last time! I am hoping he doesn't realize its gone.
Preston is also starting to do a tab bit better with eating. He is starting to realize he can pick up his own food and put it in his mouth and not wait on mommy. He just gets to so restless in the high chair about 15 minutes is all the attention span he has. I am hoping it gets better. He will stay in his high chair till we are all done eating, but he normally grunts and tries to escape. Last night he had mac and cheese, apples, peas, and jello. He was a very full little man when it was bedtime.
Just for fun here are a few other fun pictures.
This is Jordan's favorite toy of Preston's. It is a little phone I got for him from the "Easter Bunny" you can record a message and then play it back to him. Jordan loves to record messages and then play them for preston while he hides under a blanket or behind the couch. Preston laughs and then starts crawling around looking for Jordan.
Jordan is doing great and having a blast this summer. He starts swimming lessons next week and he is very excited about that. He is really enjoying have more "chores" and making his own money for camp and vacation. He has been reading and doing his daily workbook so hopefully he won't forget everything he has learned. In the past summers Jordan still goes to bed at the same and wakes up at the same time. Since he doesn't have to get up in the mornings he has started sleeping later (8:30ish) which also means he stays up later. I am hoping we won't have to much of a problem getting back in routine, but I plan to let him have fun till we get back from vacation. We come back from vacation on July 10th and when we get back I am giong to start transitioning him back into regular time. He will have a month to get back on track until then we are enjoying summer!
